Face it: Your nightly beauty routine could use an upgrade or two. Or five.

From swapping rough washcloth fabrics for gentler ones, to upgrading your skincare regimen with every decade, here are five simple changes that can give you real, improved (and sometimes instant) results.

UPGRADE #1: Washcloth and/or makeup wipes 👉 microfiber makeup removing pads

If you’re still taking off your makeup with liquid remover and wads of rapidly disintegrating toilet paper… why?

Even if you use a washcloth to remove your makeup every night — there’s a chance you might be applying too much pressure to the delicate skin around your eye area.

Instead, treat yourself to a multi-pack of microfiber makeup remover pads. These pads are available from dozens of brands, and you can easily find a pack online for less than the cost of a sandwich. The microfiber material is both softer on your skin AND more effective at lifting makeup than your hands or a regular washcloth.

Just wet the pad with warm water, gently remove your makeup and toss the pad in the laundry with your clothes. Bonus: You never have to buy makeup remover wipes again.

UPGRADE #2: Washing your face with your hands 👉 Using a facial cleansing brush

OK, sure. There are multiple schools of thought when it comes to those little vibrating scrubby brushes. Some folks say they’re too harsh. Others say they’re the ONLY way to cleanse.

We say: Use your facial cleansing brush for one of your daily cleanses — preferably at night when you probably have more makeup and/or product to remove.

“But,” you say, sipping your cucumber water, “Which brand of brush should I choose?”

While there are many options - including brands that require replacing the brush head regularly - we prefer silicone brushes. They’re naturally antibacterial, easy to charge and never need replacing.

How to use: Wet your facial cleansing brush and your face. Add a dollop of cleanser to your brush (you’ll need less than you think). Turn the brush on and gently move it over your face in concentric circles. Don’t press too hard! Just let the silicone bristles scrub away your clogs and dead skin.

UPGRADE #3: Getting the usual injections 👉 Getting treated with Jeuveau® Tired? The same old, same old tox.

Wired? Jeuveau® by Evolus — a modern, FDA-approved injectable neurotoxin treatment specifically designed to temporarily treat those pesky 11 lines between your brows.

Unlike other injectable neuromodulators, Jeuveau (prabotulinumtoxinA-xvfs) is made with proprietary Hi-Pure™ Technology. Our manufacturing process works to purify the product, which helps achieve precise, natural-looking results you’ll love.

But that's not all. In a study conducted in Europe and Canada, 54% of patients had visible results with at least a 1-grade improvement as early as 2 days after treatment.* And at an impressive 4 months after treatment, 58% of patients still had visible results with Jeuveau.**

* In clinical studies, about 50% of patients had visible improvement after 2 days (based on a ≥1-grade improvement). Most patients (~69%) achieved complete results (≥ 2- grade improvement) after 30 days.

** On average, Jeuveau patients receive 3 treatments a year.

In the hands of a skilled injector, Jeuveau smooths those frown lines without leaving you looking stiff so you can express yourself – without the frown lines. And when you sign up for Evolus Rewards, our patient rewards program, you get savings on treatment every 90 days with a participating practitioner.

UPGRADE #4: Sleeping on rough sheets 👉 Sleeping on soft sheets

You spend a third of your life in bed… so isn’t it worth sleeping on something that serves your skin?

Toss those rough, low-thread-count sheets (especially if they’ve been around for years…)

Instead, look for satin, silk, bamboo or Tencel/Lyocell sheets. These softer materials will tug at your skin less over the course of the night, which means less wear and tear on that lovely face (and body) of yours.

Not ready to replace all your bedding? Start by switching out your pillowcases with these softer materials. Your face will thank you.

UPGRADE #5: Wearing SPF 👉 Wearing a moisturizer that contains SPF

You’re here, reading a skincare blog — so we already know you’re wearing SPF. (You are, aren’t you?)

Two-stepping is great and all, but have you considered switching from first-moisturizer-then-SPF to a moisturizer that does double duty?

Moisturizers with SPF are common these days. For the best results, look for a lightweight, cream or gel-based moisturizer with hyaluronic acid and at least 50 SPF. Don’t forget to reapply every two hours or more often when you sweat or swim.

Searching for a winter moisturizer? Something with a heavier base (think cream or even oil) will give your skin the hydration it needs to look and feel its best in colder months.

You’re welcome, Gorgeous!
